Growing up I was what you would consider a social outcast. I spent my lunch hour reading a Stephen King novel and my evenings watching my favorite shows. I had no idea what the latest fashions were or which was the coolect store in the mall. If I had to go to the mall you could usually find me at the book store or this really great store that had all the movie memorbiala from the past 50 years. For all intent and purpose I was a geek, a nerd, or any other adjective you can think of to describe someone who doesnt fit into “normal”.
But as it turns out my world was consideably larger than I once thought. Beyond the walls of my house and my school there was an entire society filled with people whose first crush was Wil Wheaton (better known as Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation) or preferred watching Alien Nation and Seaquest DSV over the latest teen drama. A world that watched Voltron and the Thundercats before school. A world that knew Star Wars was set in the past and not the future. We’re known as fanboys or in my case a fangirl. Being a nerd and a geek may not be cool but I wouldnt be any other way.
